Justin Ponton for Missoula
Hello and thanks for taking the time to visit the site! My name is Justin Ponton and I’m running for a seat on the Missoula City Council representing my neighbors in Ward 2. I'm running for City Council as a way to try and serve Missoula and give back to the community that has given me so much over the years. Missoula is a special place and I'm proud to call it home. If elected, I'm looking to bring years of experience in the private sector to City Council with a focus on budget responsibility, the cost of housing and sustainable solutions for unhoused members of our community.
My priorities
Whether it’s at the local, state or national level, I believe strongly that there’s a need for pragmatic, rational and critical thinkers among our elected representatives. My commitment to my fellow Missoulians is that if elected to serve on the City Council, I’ll bring professionalism, civility and a problem-solving mindset to the role. As a long-time resident of this community, I know that we have far more in common than separates us and my goal on council would be to ensure we foster a community that’s safe, allows residents to prosper and one that Missoulians are proud to call home.
Budget & Fiscal Responsibility
I believe in a balanced budget and one that ensures funding for our most essential public services.
Cost of Housing
There are a lot of factors that influence the overall cost of real estate and while the city doesn’t have control over a number of these factors, the following areas deserve a dedicated focus: Property Taxes and Zoning & Development Code
